- Description:
Radio Beach is on the west side of the southern tip of North Bimini. The beach is backed by relatively high ground so there is some protection from easterly winds. That being said, the anchorage is essentially an open roadstead that is subject to constant ocean swells. Larger vessel that are less prone to rolling can anchor successfully in settled conditions, but smaller vessels will always be subjected to some roll. (It is only a matter of degree.)
Most vessels use Radio Beach as a day anchorage and take refuge in one of the local marinas for the night. If there is even the slightest hint of a west wind, leave immediately. The best view of the anchorage is from the deck of the bars that line the high ground above the beach.
