Walburg Island Beach

  • Location: Walburg Creek
  • Mile Marker: 623.0
  • Lat / Lon: N 31° 40.187' / W 081° 11.505'
  • Depth: 10 +
  • Tide: 6
  • Description:

This is a calm weather anchorage right off the ICW south of Walburg Island. I travel with dogs and need a place to walk them. This point has a beach that is not fully covered with water at high tide. Nice to let the dogs run. Come into the creek on the north side of the inlet and drop anchor close to shore where the depth is at least 10 feet. I had 75 feet of rode out and although I sometimes drifted very close to the island at low tide, I always had at least 8 feet of water. I was close enough to that beach that I didn't even need to start my dinghy's engine to get there -- I rowed! There is virtually no protection in any direction, so if winds exceed 5 or 10 mph you'll be rocking. Some wake from passing boats. 2 bars on Verizon and Google Fi.

DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
