Bridge C-5, ST (CP) Railroad Bridge
- Mile Marker: 10.51
- Lat / Lon: N 42° 55.120' / W 073° 40.243'
- Bridge Type: Fixed
- Vertical Clearance (Closed): 21.46 ft.
- Horizontal Clearance: 110.00 ft.
- Comments:
The NOAA charts show this bridge as 21'. That is the clearance at a normal pool 67.50. The pool is actually maintained above that at 73.50, which provides a clearance of only 15.5'. If you need additional clearance call Lock C3, 518-664-5171. Vertical clearance up to 21' can be achieved. If you are over 15' and approaching bridge C-5 from the north (Lock C4) or south (Lock C3), it would be a good idea to mention it to the appropriate lockmaster and make sure the pool is lowered for you.

Draft: 3.5'Traveling northbound, tell C1 lockmaster you need additional height. They will notify C3 and will lower the water level by the time you arrive. I had approx. 17'2" clearance on May 17 2024
