Noteworthy:

Most commercial traffic destined for Cat Island uses the more accessible dock in Smiths Bay. Leaving the dock in Bennett’s harbour is used frequently but on an irregular basis. Normally the mailboat comes on Wednesday but it may skip several weeks in a row. In the event of bad weather it is possible to come alongside and tie up provided the dock is not otherwise occupied. There is between 7’ & 8’ of water alongside and the deepest water on the outer third of the dock. The dock is fairly high and good fenders are required to protect your hull from damage.

The local dockmaster is Captain Derrick who operates Yardies Esso Station up the road from the docks. Walk out to the Queens Highway and turn left. Yardies is 100 yards up the road. If you tie up on the dock, walk up to the service station to let him know you are along side and he will tell you when the next ship movement is expected. You can also call him at +1 242 354-6076
