This fall, the largest rally departing the US East Coast, the Salty Dawg Caribbean Rally, is set to embark on an exciting journey. Hosted by the Salty Dawg Sailing Association (SDSA), the fleet will set sail from Newport, RI or Hampton, VA, on October 30 and November 1, 2024, respectively. This rally not only marks the start of many cruisers' Caribbean adventures but also offers the perfect blend of safety, camaraderie, and lifelong memories.
A Rally Like No Other
The Salty Dawg Caribbean Rally is renowned for being the most extensive organized flotilla leaving the US East Coast each fall, and it's known for being the most fun as well. Whether you're an experienced sailor or a cruiser looking to broaden your horizons, this rally provides a unique opportunity to explore the Caribbean with the support of the SDSA community.
With a choice of destinations, the majority of the fleet heads to Antigua, while others opt for the beautiful Abacos in the Bahamas. In 2024, boats departing from Hampton will not have an official stopover in Bermuda, offering even more flexibility for those charting their course south.
Full Support for Your Journey
Regardless of your chosen destination, SDSA offers full support throughout the journey. Rally Director Bob Osborn provides valuable insights into cruising the Caribbean, including his recommended landfall in Antigua. If you're considering this route, Bob's recent presentation on cruising from Antigua to Grenada, covering the southern portion of the Lesser Antilles, is a must-watch.
