Ogdensburg, NY
The French first settled Ogdensburg, the oldest settlement in New York State, which is now a U.S. port of entry. Taken by the British in 1760, it was ceded to the United States after the American Revolution. There is a Post Office on the waterfront and nearby is the Frederic Remington Art Museum with paintings, bronzes and sketches of the Old West by the celebrated artist.
