Whitehall, NY
Whitehall, at the northern end of the Champlain Canal, is the midpoint between New York City and Montreal.
The waterside Skenesborough Museum (as Whitehall was known in Colonial days) exhibits relics and models of ships from the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 as well as the work of local artists.
Whitehall is also home to Skene Manor, or the Castle on the Mountain, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Victorian Gothic-style mansion was built in 1874 and is open to the public with a gift shop and tearoom.
