Thornbury, ON, CAN
Thornbury, the center of this “apple valley,” is only 8 miles from Meaford. For early-season mariners the swath of apple blossoms seen from the water in late May and early June is worth the chilly weather. Excellent shops and several very good restaurants are found along the old-fashioned streetscape.
Artists and craftspeople host a great many events in the area and most weekends feature a local festival, dance or summer theater. The week-long Georgian Bay Regatta is held in Thornbury at the end of July/beginning of August with both cruising and racing events and plenty of socializing for sailors and power boaters alike.
Perched atop the Niagara Escarpment are 15 kms of trails meandering through 370 unspoiled acres of natural beauty. Scenic Cave Nature Adventures are quite interesting at any time of the year, particularly if you are seeking a more active outing. Cave and cavern exploration, zip lines, a suspension bridge and gem mining are among the warm weather offerings.
The Waterway Guide Team has gained extensive boating knowledge over the years, and now we are sharing all of the tips, skills and tools we’ve picked up along the way!
