Draft: 3.0'We had a great passage through the lock today. The Lock Tender was clear in his instructions and got us through the lock quickly. All of the lock masters along the OCWW were excellent and made our crossing a pleasure.

Draft: 4.0'Jan 15 2024 went Westbound. Jan 29 went eastbound. Westbound called multiple times to request lock-age. No Reply. Finally when near lock answered and only said to wait at arrival point. Asked for information concerning lock but no reply to our questions on lines, when to leave arrival point, or were we informed that five boats were coming out of the lock eastbound. Absolutely no communications from the lock master through the lock-age. Jan 29 we were at the COE slips right next to the lock at 7:30 am requested lock-age Eastbound and asked when we should cast off and enter the lock since there was no traffic awaiting either direction. They responded to come right now so we cast off and found the lock closed as it needed to be filled and we held station for half hour while they filled the lock with us wasting fuel. No further communications through the entire lock-age after the come right now. We finally get into the lock and then they keep opening and closing the gate behind us seemly having trouble closing the gate. We finally get the lock down and the east gate open but no horn, signal, or communication we were authorized to leave lock like all the other lock masters do. So took hour and half to do the lock-age. We have done hundreds of lock-ages and had many wonderful helpful lock masters a replacement here would be in order.

Draft: 5.0'The lock master is very nice. The drop is about 14 feet when the water from the lake is high. This is why wait times can be long at this location.

Draft: 5.0'We've locked through here twice. It is always a long wait no matter if you call ahead. Be prepared. It's usually 40 mins or longer.

Draft: 4.0'My favorite lock. The lock masters here are the greatest. They talk you into position and hand you DRY lines to secure to your boat. If this is your first Okeechobee Lock caution, they crack open the doors to allow the water level to equalize. This could be scary on your first time. Federal park is on the west side with small fixed docks and camping. If you are in the area drive your car here to sit in the stadium style seats and watch the boats.
