FL: Canaveral Barge Canal, SR401 Bridges, Repairs

Drax, Inc., on behalf of the bridge owner, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is contracted to conduct steel repairs, span lock replacement, and painting to the SR 401 Bridges over the Canaveral Barge Canal, mile 5.5, at Port Canaveral, Florida. Approximately half of the channel will be obstructed by a work platform and a small safety vessel from Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Vessels which can pass safely and do not require a full opening, or more than half of the channel, may do so unrestricted. The equipment can be relocated to clear the channel with a 1-hour advance notice. All vessels are advised to transit the area with caution and minimize wake to reduce risk to working personnel. Under this temporary deviation, from September 26, 2024, until April 1, 2025, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the SR 401 Bridges need only provide single-leaf openings, with full openings provided with a 2-hour advance notice. At all other times the bridges will operate per the normal operating schedule. Public vessels of the United States, vessels declaring an emergency, and vessels not requiring an opening shall be passed at any time. The channel will be cleared, and full openings will be available from 5pm until 7am daily, and 24 hours per day from 5pm on Fridays until 7am on Mondays. No restrictions or obstructions are anticipated on Saturday and Sunday during the project.
