MA: Cotuit Approach & Entrance Channel, Dredging

Barnstable County Dredge SAND SHIFTER will be conducting dredging operations in the Cotuit Approach & Entrance Channel, Barnstable located in Nantucket Sound. Dredging will take place in the channel, in position 41-35.85N, 070-25-80W, from October 3, 2024, to November 16, 2024. The dredge pipe running from the SAND SHIFTER north to the inside of Sampsons Island to a barge / booster station, then to the east end of the island along the Seapuit River to an area just east of the Osterville entrance where the pipe will be brought onshore to a dewatering basin. Equipment on scene will be the SAND SHIFTER, PUSHBOAT J.W. DOANE, skiffs, monitoring VHF-FM CH 16 and approximately 12,000 feet of pipeline. The dredge Sand Shifter is stationary and has limited maneuverability. The discharge pipe will be floating at times during dredging operations and may be blocking the channel. The dredge pipe inside of the Seapuit River may be exposed at low tide. Cables extending on both the port and starboard side of the forward part of the dredge leading to anchors with floats marking their locations. Mariners are requested to give adequate clearance to the equipment at all times.
