IL: Chicago Harbor, Chicago Avenue Bridge, Bridge Removal

Bridge removal operations will be conducted on the Chicago Avenue Bridge from January 5, 2026, through February 7, 2026, Monday through Saturday, between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The work will involve up to two barges measuring 120 feet by 32 feet or smaller, along with two man lifts, operating at Mile 2.40 (CORPS Mile 326.3).
A barge will monitor VHF-FM Marine Channel 16 and may also be contacted by phone at 708-699-5609. Barges and equipment will relocate with three-hour advance notice. Spotters will be on scene to warn of approaching vessels and to reposition man lifts as necessary to allow vessels to pass safely beneath the bridge.
Mariners should plan transits accordingly and use caution when navigating the area.
