CT: Connecticut River, Amtrak Railroad Bridge, Construction and demolition activities

Construction and demolition activities are underway at the Amtrak Railroad Bridge on the Connecticut River. A crane barge measuring approximately 120 feet by 300 feet has been moored outside the primary navigational channel to support installation of new bridge components and removal of the existing structure. This moored barge will remain in place from August 1, 2025, through December 30, 2029.
Beginning December 22, 2025, contractors will remove the existing fender system at the bridge. During this phase of work, navigational clearances will be reduced to approximately 100 feet of vertical clearance and 110 feet of horizontal clearance.
Vessels should transit the area with caution and reduce wake. The contractor may be contacted on VHF-FM Channels 13 or 16, or by phone at (860) 806-2365 or (203) 496-7353.
