NJ: Hackensack River, Lehigh Valley Lift Bridge, Schedule Deviation

A temporary test deviation has been issued for the Lehigh Valley Lift Bridge at mile 4.6 in Newark Bay, NJ. From 8:00 a.m. on January 16, 2026, through 8:00 a.m. on July 16, 2026, the bridge will be remotely operated from the Conrail North Jersey Dispatch Center in Mount Laurel, NJ.
This remote operation will also apply to the Arthur Kill Railroad Bridge and the Hack Freight Railroad Bridge. Bridge operating schedules will not change as a result of this test.
Vessels requiring an opening should continue to request openings using standard sound or visual signals, VHF-FM Channel 13 push-to-talk, or by telephone at (973) 690-2850. If the North Jersey Dispatch Center does not respond or is unable to operate the bridge, the bridge tender at the Lehigh Valley Lift Bridge will take immediate action to accommodate the request.
