Bridge maintenance will be performed on the eastbound William Preston Lane Junior Memorial Bridge (US 50/US 301) across the Chesapeake Bay, mile 138.0, between Sandy Point and Kent Island, MD. An under-bridge inspection vehicle (snooper) will be active in the vicinity, reducing the vertical clearance by approximately 5 feet.
Work is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the following periods:
From April 6, 2026, through May 5, 2026.
From April 13, 2026, through May 12, 2026 (Alternative work dates).
Vessels unable to safely transit with the 5 feet reduction may pass if at least 20-minute prior notice is given to the project foreman at 443-871-0946 or 443-610-2496. Personnel and equipment will relocate from the navigable channel upon request. Work vehicles can also be reached on VHF channels 13 and 16. Mariners are advised to use caution when navigating the Chesapeake Channel.
