NC: Masonboro Inlet - Wrightsville Channel, Drilling for bridge foundations

An engineering firm will conduct subsurface exploration to design a new foundation for Bridge #24 (West Salisbury Street) across Banks Channel on US 74 at Wrightsville Beach, NC. The project, involving 5 geotechnical borings drilled into the bridge and down into the water, is scheduled to begin on April 28, 2026, and be completed by June 1, 2026.
The drill will be in place for approximately 36 hours at each boring location and will be marked with a lighted warning buoy on each side of the bridge.
