The best thing about the Fairhope Dock Marina is the staff. Mark (dockmaster) and all of the staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating to boater's needs. The city of Fairhope took ownership of the marina about seven years ago and has steadily been making improvements to the marina. There are new fixed docks, new power pedestals, and improvements to the marina office and facilities are in-progress. As of this review the marina has two restrooms with private showers that while dated, are very clean. There is a free single washer and dryer and a small folding table. The grounds are very pet-friendly, including a beach area if your furry friends like to swim. The transient docks are in the channel, so when the wind is from the west it makes for a bit of a bouncy night. The tide varies with the season, but when we were there, the tides were ranging better than two feet, so fender accordingly. Chatting with Mark, there are plans to upgrade the facilities to make the marina a top-rated stop for Loopers within the next two years to include golf cart rentals onsite (the town is golf cart-friendly). The city of Fairhope has a charming oldtown area that really gets into the Christmas spirit. There are several shops and restaurants to explore. The Fairhope/Daphne area has a Walmart Superstore, Home Depot, and just about everything a moderate-sized metropolitan area will have. Uber rides to everything in the area is about $20 each way.

Nice marina and staff. Fixed docks. Free laundry. Very pet friendly. "Hallmark" town filled with Christmas spirit. We had westerly winds and quite a rolling night. But gotta expect that to happen when living on a boat.

Sean and his entire staff were fantastic in every respect. The facilities are currently being updated, but the entire staff is 5 stars.

Pro: Easy entrance from Mobile Bay. Sheltered location. Very helpful staff. Good fuel prices. Short taxi/Uber to really fun downtown Fairhope

Con: Zero amenities. Several docks still without water or power after hurricane 2 years ago. Restrooms and laundry are just adequate. Slips are tight for boats over 40'.

Conclusion: A good choice for boats under 40', if you can snag a slip with power. City needs to up the budget to complete repairs.

We arrived on a day that turned far windier than expected. Sean and his staff did an excellent job helping getting us secure. He is a very wise mariner. Docks in process of being improved, stable for walking. Town is lovely, be sure to have cream brûlée at R Bistro. Cab driver was single person chamber of commerce. Navigation clue: approaching from the water it is difficult to see Fly Creek. The creek goes through the middle of the forest of sailboats, just look for all the masts. Channel is apparent as you approach. There are empty posts out in mobile bay. They are not the channel, they are for boat races.
Worth a stop, watch the tides and the depth.
