Beware the narrow channel entrance and the not clearly marked leaning piling at the entrance. It was hit by a boat I'm told, not repaired and lies at 45 degrees to the water with no reflective surface. If you don’t see it and cut inside, you will go aground as we did. We only stopped here to pick up oil so cannot fully review the facility. The staff that assisted us were friendly and the owner arranged to have us pulled off the bar within the hour.

A friendly, helpful, and efficient dockhand working alone handled four of us arriving within minutes of each other and closing time yet he still managed to smile - The laundry room has one washer and one dryer but all loopers seemed to manage their time. One shower and two water toilet rooms are shared by guests. No amenities (grocery/ restaurants,)are within walking distance, however, Walmart did deliver even the wine!

Very friendly ownership and staff. Rather limited for a 60' boat. Docks are in a bit of rough shape but a safe stop for any Looper. No problem for my 5' draft, just be sure to follow the channel.

Came in with generator no start issues. After a week of the breaking and replacing parts, they charged me $1300, said it was unrepairable and sent me on my way. When we got to Panama City its fixed within 30 minutes. Bad fuel pump. CRUISERS BEWARE!

STAY AWAY! If there was a Zero star option, that's what Dog River would be due. I made a reservation 1 month prior to my arrival, i called the morning of our arrival, they said that they don't have room and they no longer take reservations. They made no effort to make it work…There are other marina options in the area.

Dog River marina is a good stop especially if you need marina supplies or work done. There is a WestMarine on the property. I had new props shipped to them ahead of time and Linda was ready and waiting for me
upon our arrival. Super service. The only drawback is they no longer take slip reservations. It is first come first serve. Guess they had too many no shows.

Docks are basic and worn. One could say it's a working boat yard. Dock hands were inexperienced and dock master was difficult to communicate with via radio. They do not take reservations and it's first come first serve same day calling.

No longer offer free night for fuel purchase or any discounts for loopers despite what the guide says.

We did not have any work done so I cannot comment on boatyard.

Transient stay only but I would not return and suggest updated editing the guide books.

Great people run this place. Rode out Tropical Storm Cristobal here. Sturdy slips in the basin. Marina flooded, understandably, but we felt safe.

This is the best marina I have stayed at . You feel like family. Susan, Glen, Robert, Les, and Michael at gas dock. Ray and Paul in the shop. They stayed in touch with us during our trip to Louisiana.

I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff at the Dog River Marina. The facility is always clean and extremely secure. Go see Linda and she will take care of you.

This facility is not a luxury marina--it is a working boat yard. It is the place to go if you need any sort of work done on your boat. The personnel are experienced, the pricing is reasonable, and they're able to handle any job expeditiously.

They have a courtesy car. Major shopping areas including food stores and Walmart are five miles away. There is a West Marine store on site.

The docks are fixed wooden docks. Dockhands are experienced. Power is good, as is the wifi. The entrance channel off of Mobile Bay can be a bit challenging in a brisk wind since the markers are a bit far apart for my taste, but I have never gone out of the channel on the many times I've stayed at this marina.

There is also a yacht club, with a good restaurant, on the property, with dozens of restaurants within a ten minute drive in the courtesy car.

This is the place to stay in the Mobile area.
