Great holding and wind protection. Although off main Chanel, no significant wake issues had. Fishermen leave around 5.00am, but very little wake noticed. Dinghy dock is a short ride and will land you near old town central. Watch out for green grunge deposits from the dock on the tender sides. Town is quaint and lovely. Do not leave without a tub of berry sorbet from the Scottish Highland Creamery. Their ice cream is awesome! The library had a book sale going on when we there which was nice to browse with a cup of coffee and their chocolate chip cookies!

Located just off the Safe Harbor Oxford Marina, care must be taken to give enough space for boats using the marina while staying out of the travelway. Depth in the anchorage is 9.5 feet mlw. Our anchor bit on the first try and stuck solid with 50 feet of chain out on a snubber. Wind and wave protections are excellent and the anchorage is in a no wake zone. Even the local commercial fishermen abide by it. We were not waked at all during the morning rush hour. There is no current to speak of and you will swing with the wind. We had winds up to 15 miles per hour from the west and had no problems staying off the marina docks and out of the channel.
Shore access is in the middle of town at the Oxford Dinghy dock which is at the foot of Market St. Oxford is a small town and there is not that much traffic, either on land or in the water on a Monday night in April. There is a big restaurant with outdoor seating at the boat launch adjacent to the anchorage and they have space and depth for two 40 foot plus boats on the outside of their docks. Docking is free for dinner and overnight stays are possible for a reported $2.00 per foot.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Had plenty of room off the channel. Boat traffic is moderate but speed limit minimizes the wake. Could take pet ashore at either the dock at the end of Market St. or to the left of the Hinkley Marina facility. Very friendly town.
