Great spot to spend the night on the hook. There is a stairway and boardwalk to the really beautiful beach on the ocean side of Island Beach State Park. They currently charge $3 per person to cross over to the ocean side on weekends.

Great sunsets. Can get a little crowded on the weekends, but there is plenty of room to spread out. Mild current, just enough to keep the water clean. Best time to go is late afternoons when the crowds leave. Have done a few overnights on the hook and never an issue holding bottom. Can get a little rough when the winds are directly from the west.

Moderate crowds on weekdays, less for overnight. Some shallow areas. Can walk to shore. Borders Island Beach State Park, fee to access the beach. Seems to be the place to go when boating on Barnegat Bay for those who don't know where else to go. There is no shopping. Cell service is good, I have Verizon. There's no Wifi use your hotspot.
