Holding is very good in sand and gravel, so long as you make sure your anchor is set. There are shallower areas (although not quite as shallow as charted) where you can use less scope. Good wind protection from the west and north, depending on where you tuck in. Exposed northeast through southwest. The beach and island are closed April through August for bird nesting but open otherwise, check city website for rules (https://www.huntingtonny.gov/hobart-preserve). Many destination moorings for small boats here, so it's probably very hectic with wakes on nice weekends, but we've found it almost peaceful during the week.
