Not recommended. Bottom is gravel or rock and we couldnt get anchor to set despite 5 tries at different locations along the island. Finally went up and anchored just outside Hardin Creek and finally got the anchor to bite. But other than that!!

Eagles Nest Island Chute is not so much an anchorage but an alternative to the marked main channel. It is wide enough and deep enough to run tows through it and it is reported that sometimes they do. With that said, turn off the main channel towards RDB in mid chute for 35 foot depth winter pool at the entrance, 30 feet at icon, and a minimum 18 foot depth winter pool at south end of channel. Anchor at appropriate depth on island side with full current keeping you oriented. Channel is wide an dexposed east and west.Good cellular coverage for all carriers. No shore access. Small boat traffic uses this channel during the day. Make sure you have your anchor light on and, if you are so equipped, leave your AIS transponder on for the night.
