Great little anchorage. Water depth was good (5-6 ft.) about half way up to the RR bridge. Banks are steep but 4' deep almost to the shore on both sides. We didn't use a stern anchor. 50' boat and we felt fine there. Really protected from the winds and the wakes.

Nice little creek off the Mississippi River. There was 6' of water all the way in for us (about ½ to the RR bridge) even though the river was down (-1' stage at the St. Louis gauge, 9/27/21). Although a bit narrow at that water level. The banks were steep and muddy and the current kept us pretty straight so I didn't bother with a stern anchor. There was room for 5 or 6 boats even with a low river level. Verizon cell service was good.

Approach from downstream side going up current and ferry out of Mississippi River current into the opening going up the river in 12' normal pool of water in the middle of the channel. The Mississippi was near normal pool so the Meramec was a tight fit between the narrowed banks. Smaller boats will feel comfortable here but 40"+ boats will feel uneasy because of channel width. If you go up the Meramec beyond the opening consider a stern anchor with wind as there was not much current in low water levels. The alternative is for a single boat to anchor out on the lower tip in the beginning of Mississippi river current in slightly deeper water with the current pulling you downriver. Bottom should be mud and sand and holding should be good.
