icon. There is good holding in mud. No current, and good protection from all directions except the
Northwest, where there is more fetch and the anchorage might get a bit bouncy. It is a short dinghy ride
to "downtown" Reedville. Tie up at one of the dockside restaurants for dinner and spend a bit of time in town. (Reedville Fishermen's Museum). The anchorage has little boat traffic most of the time but as there is a boat launch (Shell Landing) around the corner so there is probably more traffic on weekends. The anchorage is just downstream from Omega Protein, an active fish processing plant with a half dozen active menhaden fishing boats ships leaving before light in the morning and coming back between five and eight in the evening. In addition the small spotting planes will land at the local airport behind the processing plant, flying straight over the anchorage at 100 feet, and will take off early in the morning as well. Very good cellular reception for all three carriers with very fast T-Mobile internet connectivity. The anchorage does not have an "away from it all" feel to it at all, but was a good, well protected overnight stop on our way south. Be aware of the many ruins and old piling obstructions along the shoreline.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Small boats speed in and out of the creeks, so best to avoid those too. Both restaurants (Crazy Crab and Tommys) have dinghy docks but expect you to eat with them. Maybe ask at Tommys about leaving your dinghy at their extensive dock while you stroll the Main St. No shopping or provisions but a popular ice cream store and, of course, the "must see" museum.
