Normans Pond Cay

Description:
Normans Pond Cay was at one time the site of a salt mining operation. Today the salt ponds have been abandoned and there are few signs of civilization other than the remains of some structures on the south end of the Cay. The anchorage at the NW tip of the cay offers excellent protection in NE – E winds with good holding. The protection disappears quickly, however, if the winds shift out of the NE-E, it is excellent protection or no protection. There is a very small beach that becomes even smaller at high tide, but it does provide an opportunity to beach a dinghy if needed. The anchorage is a good place to wait for the correct tides and weather to transit one of the cuts to explore the west side of Great Exuma Island.

Spent one night here. A little bumpy due to SE winds and waves. Flood tide pushed us pretty hard but good holding. Iguanas on Norman's Pond Cay and Leaf Cay (maybe more). Watch your pets. Beautiful area.
