The main constraints were crab pots throughout and the channel. There was one small mono permanently anchored and room for maybe two other boats. Holding was excellent through 30kt winds during TS. City marina has a dinghy dock for seeing the town which does have pleasant offerings. I'm not sure if the anchorage description of anywhere past R20 is accurate since there is a marked channel in that area which is the turning basin for the large river tour boat that docks at the city docks. Best to anchor E of the two small red channel markers to stay out of it's way.

The Anchorage is small. We were one of 3 forty plus foot cats sharing the space and we were close. A monohull came in after and clearly anchored in the channel. The dock master at Hampton is fantastic and offered free bike loans and info about town. Good selection of restaurants and the brewery directly across from the Anchorage is great. They'll even custom can pints for you of whatever is on tap to bring back to the boat. Internet access from brewery with purchase. Verizon and Google Fi excellent. Nice Food Lion a short Walk away. Several pharmacies walkable. Lots to see. Unfortunately quite a bit closed due to COVID. Restaurants have Main Street closed and set up tables in the street with excellent social distancing.
