Great Stirrup Cay is owned by Norwegian Cruise lines and is private. They patrol with ATVs and guard dogs. Cruisers are not welcomed on the island. The anchorage itself is pretty, but also rather small, depending on draft. Anchor within 150 feet of shore for most boats. We saw 5-6 foot depths at low tide in the anchorage, deeper coming in. Just a couple hundred feet further away from the cay gets very shallow quickly. This is one of the few anchorages with protection from West to North to East winds. We were here with 25+ gusting 35+ from W-NW and saw just minor chop and little current. One other sailboat was here and appears to be on a mooring.
