Very quiet night. There were two other boats. One looked unoccupied. It was in the middle of the anchorage. We checked the depth on the northeast side and set the anchor about 180 feet from shore expecting a North and then easterly wind that night. Probably room for 7-8 boats. We had zero wake, very little current and about 2 feet tide change in about 8 feet of water. We put out 60 feet of chain. The cove is past the marina, so there is no boat traffic thru or past the anchorage at all. Mangrove protection from N, E, and S. We had no reason to go ashore. Refer to other reviews about dinghy to marina. We could see the unsecure marina wifi on our devices but we were unable to connect. 4 bars with Verizon cellular. It's probably a 15-20 minute ride from the main channel. Shallow on south side. Chain came up clean. Mantus M1 came up full of mud and shells. I would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately there are a lot of mud flats and shoals to watch out for. I ended up on the mud flats when the wind shifted. Thank goodness for BoatUS!
I saw a power boat being towed off of the mud further up the channel, and it had caught fire trying to get off the mud!. I think the best places to anchor are on the port side (North) no more than 200 yards from the marina, or directly in the middle of the channel. The depth is about 10 feet in much of it Stay away from the starboard (South) side!
Otherwise, it was extremely quiet with no traffic, wakes, etc.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

We stopped off on our way south from Charlotte Harbor area to get a slip and fill water, get pumped out, shower etc.. Very nice resort and marina. The new restaurant called Gather had great service, food, and prices. Even a great happy hour! We moved to the anchorage he next day. Marina staff very nice with the exception of the harbor master. He is very anti-anchorage people coming to the marina and gave us a hard time anytime he saw us on shore or with our dinghy. We were very put off by his attitude. You are supposed to be able to go shopping or to restaurants from the anchorage but marina will charge you a $20 "landing fee" to land your dinghy at their dock. They will reimburse you as long as you bring a receipt from a business. If you shower or bring trash ashore they keep the $20. He also grilled us on if we had left the property which apparently incurs another fee. We are not derelict cruisers and this would have all been fine with us except he treated us like unwanted riff raff even though we had spent a night in a slip and were spending money at the businesses. Rant over. The anchorage itself is very nice and a good stopping point heading north or south.

Draft: 4.0'Overall Rating:5Holding:5Wind Protection:5Current Flow:5Wake Protection:4Scenic Beauty:5Ease of Shopping:3Shore Access:5Pet Friendly:3Cell Service:5WiFi:1The high point of this anchorage is it's scenic beauty. It's surrounded by lovely, lush Florida greenery and the remaining side has a luxery hotel and marina with its "city" views. The dinghy dock at the Marina is readily accessible and the hotel's bars, restaurants and boutiques are all nice. The Tiki bar at the head of the dinghy dock is gorgeous at sunset.
A drawback to this anchorage is that there's nothing in the way of groceries or West Marine without a car ride of some variety. The Hotel and Marina are at the end of a residential area and beyond the hotel and marina facilities there's nothing else out there.
I've written all about the place in my blog http://elizabethkelch.com/travelogue/preparations-for-the-crossing
