Just north of the Eau Gallie Causeway Bridge (mm 914.2) turn sharply to the east and go 0.9 nm heading 70? magnetic to Green 1 at the entrance to Banana River. Care should be taken to stay away from the shoal just south of the buoy. Turn north in the river passing the Dragon Point anchorage and Telemar Bay Marina to the Mathers Swing Bridge (vhf ch 9 opens on request 0600 to 2200 hrs). After passing through the bridge proceed up the east side of the river 0.2 miles to the area just beyond the docks and in front of a set of condominiums. Anchor off the condos in 9-10' mlw with good holding in sand, good wave, and good wake protection (no wake zone.) We waited out 30 mph winds for two days and were comfortable on the boat although the wind from the south came right up the river. The anchor did not drag and we did not bounce. Shore access can be had by turning in to the channel at the south side of the marina and following it all the way back to the Oars and Paddles Park dock. The park houses an Olympic canoe and kayak training center and several rowing clubs and is near the main road with restaurants and a Publix supermarket a half mile to the south and an ACE Hardware store .3 miles to the north on S. Patrick Drive. Cell coverage is very good for all three major carriers.
