Review for Cochrane Cut-Off, Upper Catfish Bend
Reviewed by: Capt. Mac Rubel on Oct 22, 2021
LOA: 48'
Draft: 5.0'Overall Rating:3Holding:5Wind Protection:3Current Flow:4Wake Protection:3Scenic Beauty:4Ease of Shopping:1Shore Access:1Pet Friendly:1Cell Service:2Leave channel RDB at 288.1 and move into the bend center chute in 20 feet of water at the entrance and 13 feet of water at the bar which is far enough off the travelway for a safe anchorage with good holding and good but not great wind, wave, and wake protection. There is plenty of swing room at this point and there is a small current going into the bend that will help orient your boat but may not be enough to prevent some swinging. Moving beyond the bar the depth increases to 15+ feet. The anchorage goes back and, if you are interested, you can explore. There is no immediate shore access. Cellular reception: ATT 3 bars, Verizon and T-Mobile 1 bar.
