I give this a four because it was a great place to be able to pull into and the only place we found it was the Waterways Guide. It has enough depth, 7 feet, it is narrow and would not accommodate more than one boat but it is off the channel, felt only a slight rocking from tows, it is well protected from wind. Is not pet friendly to my knowledge but we didn't have a dinghy so did not go up the creek further. We had little to no cell reception (Verizon). But it was easy to tuck into, peaceful and secure.

Located on LDB at mm 56.9 Hal's Slough is the entrance to Hal's Lake. The slough is just off the channel and tows come by close but, because of the configuration of the entrance, a single boat anchored here is completely out of their way. We came to use this anchorage out of necessity and found that it was actually better than what we had thought it would be.

Enter the anchorage going up the center of the channel until your reach a depth of 14-15 feet normal pool. Drop your anchor, back up, set it well, and then take up chain to shorten your scope. Our anchor dug into the mud and did not budge. There is no current to speak of and the boat would have sat in the middle of the slough through the night if it were not for the water displacements of the passing tows. We found that we moved from side to side as they passed and even bumped into downed trees on the shore once or twice but always came back to the middle of the channel. We set a 75' radius alarm and it did not trip. The anchorage is a good pocket and is protected from wind quite well. There is some small boat traffic that comes by on the way to and from fishing. There is no shore access. We did not record cell strengths but we did have usable cell service on all three networks and even had internet connectivity a well.
