Our 100 lb. Anchor set perfectly. Good holding until the road wrapped 5 times around our anchor. The current was the cause. Luckily a neighbor boat jumped on his tender,we lowered the anchor and he un tangled it. Crazy. Went to another spot as it wasn't busy.

A sign has been raised saying there is no way to tie up NOR drop someone.
But there is a dinghy landing opposite side in lettuce lake. A bit rough (concrete wall). But ok.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Anchored just off the entrance on the south side in 8-9'. Being a little off season on a Tuesday night, we found it VERY quiet and pleasant with only a handful of boats anchored. Some small boat traffic, but almost all of them slowed to provide very little wake. Didn't go ashore. Good cell service.

We've never seen it so crowded overnight. There were 12-15+ boats. A couple seem to have taken up residence including a small sailboat dead center of the lake that has both a bow and stern anchor making it difficult for a good portion of the anchorage. Most of this anchorage averages 9-11 feet. The northern section where all the canals and bridge are is 18+ feet. On our first night a small boat came in playing VERY LOUD music until almost 2am. There's also now tour boats going through the anchorage - and cruisers are part of the tour, including how we "can live here as long as we want for free". Pompano Beach is becoming a bit more like Miami!
Cell service is very good and Xfinity wireless WiFi is available if your an Xfinity customer.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

There is a shallower spot in the middle of the lake with 7' depths mlw but the water deepens to 10' towards the island at the back of the lake. Good holding in sand and shells with excellent wind and wave protection as you move further away from the ICW towards the back of the lake. There is a very definite current that will move your boat with tide as water moves back into the maze of creeks and canals that define the western side of Pompano Beach. There is a surprising amount of boat traffic coming through but, looking at a satellite view of the area you will quickly realize that there is a very large boating community up the creeks and canals. The boat traffic was quite civil during the day and the anchorage quiets down quickly at night. Marine Max is located at the back of the lake. Lake Santa Barbara Park is located on the NW corner of the lake and, although there is not dinghy dock, it has been reported that shore access is possible there. Once ashore you are one block from US 1 and all that Downtown Pompano Beach has to offer. Cell coverage is excellent. There is comfortable room for five or six 40+' boats in the anchorage. This is definitely an excellent overnight stop and is also well protected for hunkering down in bad weather.

As mentioned by other reviewers, there is a fair amount of boat traffic during the day. We tried to dinghy to shore but couldn't find a dinghy dock so we can't comment on ease of shopping.

There is always plenty of room, with good depths for all boats that transit the ICW. Coming in the Hillsboro Inlet, you'll go through the inlet bridge which opens every 15 minutes, then head south on the ICW, through 14th Street bridge and Atlantic bridges, which open every 30 minutes, but are timed perfectly at 15 minutes apart. You can anchor anywhere in the lake, but we prefer the NW corner as there are fewer boats coming in and out. If you go under the small Rt 1 / Federal Hwy bridge at the SW corner of the lake you can follow the canals. On the South side of SE 10th Court, there's a large shopping center with Walmart Grocery, Dollar Store, Bealls Outlet, Pool Store, Joanne Fabrics, Massage Envy, and multiple restaurants. A Publix and Marshall's is also walking distance south in another shopping center. There are various Marine Facilities here as well for any service needs.
