This anchorage is a very desirable place to stay "on the hook". The sunrise is beautiful and sunset is magnificent. The dolphins play along the shoreline at all hours of the day. We anchored in 20' of water and holding was good in mud. The 6' tide and the strong current need to be considered when paying out anchor rode. Due to the proximity to the ocean we were buzzed by mostly small fishing boats heading out and returning. Both shorelines were marsh grass with no areas to go ashore.

We anchored out and rafted up with another boat without any issues. There were 5 other boats in the anchorage and room for more. We took a 5 min dinghy ride to the beach that had plenty of room for the dog to walk and do her business.

We arrived on a windy/rainy day. There was only another boat, so plenty of swing room. Holding was good but no wind protection to speak of. Good T-Mobile signal. Quick access to the ICW.

Spent a really nice evening here. The rising and falling tides produce a very strong current through the anchorage. Our Mantus grabbed immediately, held all night long and came up clean the next morning. Bottom looked to be mostly sand. There were 6 boats anchored here with us, with plenty of room for more. Definitely no wind protection here.
Small power boats cut through here all afternoon at high speed, but died down at night.
We have a dog with us, and took a rather long dinghy ride to the north side of the anchorage to a small beach. Not enough room to run or play, but there was enough room to walk about and do his business.

    Would stop here again.

Really nice spot. Was there 3 nights. Calm, except fishermans, beautiful sunsets, good holding, dolphins. Great place to stop on the ICW.

One of our favorite anchorages. It's conveniently placed about halfway between Georgetown and Charleston which is good for timing the tides for the shallow areas. We anchor in 10 ft of water and are set for the night. We take our dog to the north shore of the ICW at the entrance to the anchorage. There's a sandy beach there accessible at all tide levels. There is plenty of room, enough for 100 boats. We've had no problem with holding but we have seen two boats up on shore so just be sure to set your anchor. You will have small fishing boats zoom by in the early morning hours but not many.

Excellent holding, deep water entrance off the waterway, no bad shoals or shallow water.

Very nice but mostly open. One of our favorite places to drop the hook. Moderately high current but excellent holding. Good fishing and you can run the dinghy to the ocean and beach in a few minutes. Gray clay under sand for super grip holding. Great TV and 5G cell.
We held great through TS Claudette with 40 mph winds recorded on out weather instrument. 80# Mantus was hard to get up it was buried so deep into clay sand.

Was a little tight to swing on the hook for a 40'.
But was very pleased that the current was minor at best. Good spot to drop the hook for the night if the winds are light.

I use this anchorage every time I travel the ICW. It breaks up the trip between two shallow areas: Isle of Palms and McClellanville since it’s hard to get through both areas the same day on a high tide.

I can take Hoolie, my dog, back to the entrance to a pebble beach across the ICW for relief. There’s room for a hundred boats without getting crowded in 10 ft water. The anchor comes up clean in the morning but holds well during the night.

I use this anchorage all the time. It's convenient for staging for tide through the shallow areas. There is shore access for pets at an oyster pile at the eastern end of the anchorage at any time other than high tide. At extreme high tides, there is shore access by the entrance and if that is not to your liking, there are public docks about a mile down the ICW towards Charleston.

A very good anchorage, plenty of water, good swing room, only a few bugs, a few small boats transit through at speed but no issues and anchor comes up clean even though holding is excellent. Boat position will reverse in a good current.
