Description:
This is just east of the navigation channel. Held well, no wind protection from any direction but quiet. Lots of crab pots but all visible.

We typically have stopped in downtown Oriental when we can get on the free dock but couldn't find space this visit. Anchoring inside is always tight. So we tried the outside for a night. We found it from good to bouncy during the roughly 16 hours we were there. We all know the Neuse can kick up. Use this anchorage in settled conditions and you can always dinghy into town. For short overnights we prefer across the river near Lukeville.

Lots of crab pots around but well spaced so didn't have too much of an issue. Out in the open so not much protection. Easy dingy to free docks. Liked this because we swing much more than is available in the harbour.
