There are several anchoring possibilities west and south of tiny Bar Island. The moorings north of here are mostly working lobster boats, which means motors and wakes at 4 am. The moorings south of here are mostly local residents and is a much quieter area to anchor.

Anchor wherever you like in about 20 feet MLW. Good holding in mud. Some protection from the west, north, and east. Little to no protection from the south and southwest. It can get uncomfortably rolly in Potts Harbor, it's not as protected as it looks.

Bar Island is a MITA picnicking site, so you can go ashore and walk the dog. There is also a town dinghy dock at Potts Point. You can walk a quiet residential neighborhood and walk down to Potts Point Preserve, which has pretty views and pebble beaches.
