We went about half way to the noted anchorage icons on the chart. We had issues setting our anchor initially then moved farther up the river and was able to set it easily in the middle of some crab pots. There were two local boats anchored here and one of them broke their anchor rode in the middle of the night. Glad we were not able to set anchor initially as that would have been a close call. It was windy and we were getting some good waves coming from upriver and there is not a lot of protection from the wind. Plenty of waves from the wind but we had plenty of comfort to sleep though the night. It was shallow coming into the mouth of the river, but we stayed away from the very shallow areas. Easy ride into the docks to tie and walk to take the dog our and walk to the local store. Very beautiful area that reminded me of the Bahamas a little.

Plenty of swing room and room for many. Current/ tides but holding was excellent. We came in from south at entrance high tide. Left at dead low the same way no less than 7' using Navionics on our I Pad to find deepest water. At first had somewhat brisk winds but same way as channel so no issues. Then wind went to nothing as the tide changed so had peaceful quite night. Three boats anchored for this night. Previous reviews seem accurate if different windy conditions as it is wide open anchorage.

It was quiet, but the river was wide and surrounded by grass so there was no protection from the wind. It was a very windy night. We swung incessantly on the anchor and the waves lapped against the boat all night. No one drove by so there was no issue of wake.
There were two parked and vacant sailboats where New River meets the cut at Daufuskie Island. At low tide we had to come very close to them to avoid shallow water. They did not display anchor lights at night.
Shore access is at the free Daufuskie Landing dock, which would have been a rough trip in the dinghy with the windy conditions. We took the boat over in the morning for pet relief.
I would not stay here again. Friends of our stayed at Bull Creek north of there earlier in the week and were happy with it.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

We draft 5' and found Navionics to be spot-on with our approach. The bottom is mud with shells, which is great holding for our anchor. The current is tame for this part of SC, and the scenery around this area is beautiful. We didn't experience any wakes – not sure if we got lucky, or if this just isn't a popular spot for fishing or boating. We found this anchorage to be very peaceful with a decent T-Mobile 5G signal. This anchorage is about 400' wide with lots of swing room with depths of 7' – 12' under our keel depending upon the tide. We would definitely drop the hook here again if we pass by this way in the future.

We put out 175' of rode and were quite comfortable in 20-30kt sustained winds with gusts up to 40. Limited fetch kept the chop to maybe a foot at worst. Great holding, anchor came up nearly clean, looked like a mix of sand and clay. The no wake zone ends just above the south edge of the ICW junction, so some wakes reach the anchorage, but not an issue for us.

The holding is great in mud. There isn't a lot of wind protection but waves will really only build from the W-NW and the fetch isn't that far. There is a great place to go ashore at the boat ramp across the ICW. We rented a golf cart from Daufuskie Life and they brought it right to us at the boat ramp. A very cool island to explore!

Not as scenic as expected with the gas storage facilities visible on the horizon. No protection from NE wind. Still a good anchorage overall.

Anchored where indicated on Waterway Guide, easy in/out but be mindful of shoal to the northeast between anchorage and ICW. Surrounded by lowlands in all directions so not much protection from wind (which keeps bugs down), and good protection from fetch except to the east. Moderate current with excellent holding. Easy dinghy ride to Daufuski Landing dinghy dock for dog walk and stroll along very lightly traveled roads on island.
