Good wind protection from all sides and little traffic so no wakes. Beautiful Georgia river with little traffic or lights. Fast reversing current during 7 foot tide changes. Primitive beach allows dog access, but very muddy. Watch for deer, snakes, and wild boars on land. Limited cell service.

We draft 5' and used Navionics to maneuver through the shoaling. Once in the anchorage, the bottom is mud and held great. We had a good T-Mobile signal and the no-see-ums weren't that bad.

Good protection from the N de to yrs but no fetch except from W. This time we noticed shoaling(7') in the deep section just before the bend. Paradoxically, the (usually) shallow area N of the bend was deeper than usual. Still a great, quiet overnight.

Good cell service, yet isolated (feeling) location.
Only other boats were a couple of shrimp boats anchored at the river entrance just off the ICW.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Lots of dolphins greeted us as we cruised in. Dropped anchor in 21' water. There was zero breeze from arrival until we left an hour after high tide the next morning; thank goodness for the Thermacell to keep the no-see-ums at bay. For Georgia, the current was very mild and there were no wakes, we had the anchorage to ourselves. The shore by the trees looked accessible but without a dog we had no need to try. Pretty good Verizon cell service. A pretty sunset, dead quiet all night, and a gorgeous sunrise to start our next day's voyage.

Draft: 4.2'Overall Rating:5Holding:5Wind Protection:3Current Flow:3Wake Protection:3Scenic Beauty:5Ease of Shopping:1Shore Access:4Pet Friendly:1Cell Service:4WiFi:1Anchored here night of Nov 25, 2019. Light wind, SW-NW; anchor is "Ultra" (sharp-tipped, spade type, no bale) held perfectly in mud bottom. We anchored on N side, close under stand of trees (100 yards W of "mystery light", below). Current is strong, but with suitable anchor, that's a plus: except at slack tide, current aligns boat with river/shore; unless wind from S, no risk of swinging into shore. Even in late Nov., some no-see'ums, but Cutter's repellent worked well. The "mystery light" is an white electric light on a post, such as one would place by front walk. Purpose & power source a mystery; no sign of dwelling. Perhaps a private nav aid?
As to other ratings: We have no dog & didn't go ashore; looks like landing a challenge at high tide when beaches covered, with no docks & vegetation thick above tide line. No wake protection, but no wakes, either; one crabber went by as we arrived late in day. 3 bars on roof-mounted cellphone antenna. Zero civilization (except mystery light), pristine & beautiful.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The holding is good and there are two sandy beaches for landing a dog. One at high tide on the north shore and one a low tide farther east. There are beautiful sunsets here and no lights at night.
