Description:
The Mobile-Tensaw Rivers Cutoff connects the two rivers about 8 miles above Mobile. Chart shows 9+ feet at the entrance, but be alert for shoaling and watch your depth. Avoid blocking the channel entrance.

We stayed in the Entrance of Big Briar Creek Anchorage last night (February 2026). Anchored in 11' of water. The Coffeville Damn elevation was 14.29'. Very nice anchorage just off the river. The current was very calm overnight. Did not need a stern anchor.
