Anchored in the middle of the old quarry in 37' on 140' of rode. Plenty of swing room and very private as we were the only boat here. Cattle on the shore were curious of us and we enjoyed watching the martins feeding in the evening. We had tried to anchor back where it is shallower, but we were not comfortable with the lack of swing room in the narrow anchorage there.

Depths on our visit were 25-37 feet throughout the basin (Lollipop) so ensure lots of chain/rode. We set the hook after 3 tries with 175' out, set the hook, then took up some rode to lessen the swing radius, not that we had to, since nobody else showed up. Three gators were curious and swam past during the anchoring process. Any splash sound gets them interested. Marked lots of fish on the sounder, so fishing gear would've made for a nice diversion had I though to bring bait!! Overall, a very welcome change to the road noise associated with many of the other area docks (free or otherwise). Total peace and quiet; in short perfect for the cruiser who needs a break. Cheers!

It was a little skinny getting in but we found 30 feet in the lollipop. We dropped 150 feet of chain with a Bruce anchor on a 53 Hatteras. It was calm all night. Just the bird sounds, cows mooing and that huge alligator keeping us company. Great spot.
