We were forecast for south/southeast winds over night. We dropped the anchor at the mouth of the oxbow and put out 100 foot of rode as we backed into oxbow. Anchor held well and wind kept us centered in between the land. Only two tows came by all night. Anchor came up clean.

This time I’m in the sailboat with a five foot draft. At low tide I’m sitting on the bottom. Couldn’t find anything deeper in this anchorage. Maybe shoaled from all the storms. But now about the only place to anchor is at the entrance to this place, just outside the GICW channel.

Draft: 5.5'Overall Rating:3Holding:5Wind Protection:5Current Flow:5Wake Protection:5Scenic Beauty:4This would be an excellent overnight anchorage, but the depths are nowhere near what is listed. In spots I found it to be up to 12 feet, but most of it was in the 4 - 8 foot range. Having a 5 foot keel, I was scraping mud more often than not. Be careful entering if you have a keel .Went in at high tide and left at low tide. No appreciable difference between the two. Just alarmingly shallow for my draft.
