We approached after dark and felt our way in close to the port side green markers. Wind would push us outside of green markers and immediately would be too shallow for our 6 ft draft. Past the 1A green marker we stuck in the mud and with difficulty pulled free and rather than try to explore further upstream, we set anchor just inside the second green marker, 1A. That was far enough from the ICW for a peaceful night and the only traffic on the river was a couple of small boats early in the morning. Coyotes serenaded our anchoring in their territory!
Would cautiously anchor here again.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Was OK with the exposure since it was hot and the breeze kept the mosquitoes away. But, winds picked up to near 20 knots and were slowly dragging, even on 150’ of chain. Had to move a bit up river past the Red “4” and found better holding.

I didn’t go quite to the spot indicated on Waterway Guide. But it was still a good anchorage. It does shoal fast. So be careful. We had no mosquitoes due to the cooler weather

Draft: 5.5'Overall Rating:4Holding:4Wind Protection:2Current Flow:3Wake Protection:4Scenic Beauty:4I had the misfortune of anchoring here minutes before a terrific storm which caused flooding and near-freezing temperatures. It is exposed to all but West winds, and there is a mild current toward the South. Depths going in were about 6-8 feet with lots of shoaling, so you have to feel your way through. Once you get beyond the red channel marker, there is a spot about 200 feet in diameter with variable, but adequate depths. Bottom is soft mud, but with a lot of rode it held me in massive winds and current. It is far enough from the ICW that wakes are negligible. I also had zero cell phone reception here. As this is a swamp, mosquitoes are naturally a concern.

But it's a nice, wide-open spot with great holding and a beautiful view. You will get some small wakes from small fishing boats going by in the channel, but we had no problems at all. We recommend it.
