WARNING. Soverel Harbor charges $3.75 per foot, despite advertising $2.30 in Waterway Guide. Upon bringing this matter to the attention of the front office, the response was "they need to get that corrected"; thereby blaming WG. Soverel Harbor has been charging $3.75 for over a year for fixed concrete docks. There are cheaper rates at area marinas with superior facilities. Safe Journeys.

Marinas have the ability to update theri listing in Waterway Guide at any time. They are sent reminders annually. The marina does not list rates on their website therefore rates have been removed from the Waterway Guide marina listing.

Installed new engines and new transmissions at sister yard in Savannah GA. Port engine vibrated so badly I had to remove glass shelves in the refrigerator to prevent breakage. 6 months in failed attempts Savanah yard was unable to correct vibration. Brought boat to Hinckley Stuart….fantastic yard. Corrected excessive vibration by aligning port engine. Also discovered and corrected improper alignment of starboard engine….all within 24 hours. Highly recommend Hinckley Stuart.

The Hinckley Savannah yard must be one of the most incompetent yards I have experienced in 35 years of boating. This yard required 9 months to complete a 2-month job and then it was wrong. Installed new engines, new transmissions, service genset, installed new sanitation pumps and hoses, fuel polishing, rebuild racors, and cleaning/painting engine room and bilges. Boat was returned filthy, had been left open for most of 9 months, port engine vibrated so badly I had to remove glass shelves in the refrigerator to prevent breakage. Many of the services were either not performed or performed incorrectly. Upon delivering the vessel with the excessive vibration, the GM said, "you will need to file a warranty claim".

Cummins' vibration engineers discovered wrong engine isolators, engine isolators installed incorrectly, and engines were not aligned. Hinckley Savannah tried multiple times over 6 months to correct, to no avail. Despite being BILLED and PAID for services, genset did not work and had not been serviced, bilges were not cleaned and painted, sanitation pumps were not installed, fuel hoses were installed backwards, chafe protection was non-existent, racors had no filters, and retaining screws and bolts were ether loose or without washers and nuts. Mechanics are incompetent. Project managers are totally disorganized, and GM's sole function is to placate customers and obtain payment before customers recognize the poor quality.

After splashing boat and tied to Hinckley dock, I was approached by multiple people who were on the water the same day, advising me to go elsewhere that Hinckley Savannah was an extremely poor yard. Unfortunately, their warnings were 9 months too late. My experience was not unique.

The poor service does not account for the significant damages to the vessel, including scratched cabinetry, diesel stains on cabin sole, scratches and gouges throughout cabin teak and holly sole, etc.

After 9 months delay in completing project, 6 months in failed attempts to correct vibration, I contacted corporate office and threatened litigation. I offered third party contractor to correct (at Hinckley expense) or another Hinckley yard to correct. Brought boat to Hinckley Stuart….fantastic yard. Corrected excessive vibration by aligning port engine. Also discovered and corrected improper alignment of starboard engine….all within 24 hours. Do not assume Hinckley name indicates quality at all locations. I highly recommend Hinckley Stuart. Do not use the Hinckley Savannah yard.

      Marina Management Response:

I thank Mr. Phil Eastman for taking the time to write a review. Our goal at Hinckley is to always provide the best service experience possible. In this case we fell short and for that I apologize. All customer interactions, even our less than positive ones, are opportunities to learn from so we have made changes to prevent this from occurring again.

Fantastic Place. No current, no tides. Very friendly. More of a storage facility than a marina. Accepts transients. Boat yard very responsive. Corrected thruster problem within hours when vendor could not correct after 2 weeks. Will return.

Under new ownership but advertises under the old name of Calusa Jacks. Lists fuel prices and dock rates in Waterway Guide but charges different upon arrival. Made reservations two weeks in advance and despite 6 different communications, never disclosed a dockage rate of $5.20 per foot. Advertises as $1.75 pf. Dockmaster offered a refund and asked to leave….at 6 pm and without any other reservations or slip availability before nightfall, was disingenuous at best. Was told owner’s philosophy about rates was “if customers don’t like it, they can go elsewhere”. Need to accommodate owner’s request…. GO ELSEWHERE. DO NOT STOP HERE.
