I suspect it is not 73' clearance in the open position. My windex pole broke off going under this bridge and I should have cleared. You can check the real time water elevation by going to NOAA Tidal Station for the Galveston Railroad Bridge 8771486 water levels be sure to click on "Observed-Predicted to get the current actual elevation above/below MLLW. Be cautious.
