Anchored here overnight in August. I draw only 4' but still had to watch the chart and depth meter closely, as the area between the jetties gets very shallow very quickly. Good protection. Easy access to Pilots Point Marina (one of the best anywhere) and the Sound.

Anchorage Review for Charles Island

Anchored overnight in August, up close behind Charles Island, very well protected from 12+ kt. SW winds and waves, which break over the bar and go no further. Easy access from the Sound. Read the charts closely and watch you depth meter, but you can get close to the island.

Great yacht club that makes room for transients, including at last minute. Very well protected. Takes about 20' to motor from the Georges Rock buoy through the very narrow but well marked channel. Westport has everything, but it's too far to walk to town.
