Great location. Will need to be creative tying off to difficult wall with industrial sized cleats. We have traveled over 10,000 miles without a need for fender boards but they would be useful here. Or two large fender balls But then the issue is you are a huge step away from the wall to the boat. We were loaned a large fender from a fellow Looper. Thanks Set Free! Great location though and we felt safe. Loved being in a large port after the remoteness of the rivers.

There is free daytime 12 hour dock on the river wall at the north (upriver) end of the Mobile Convention Center at N30.69290, W88.03745. What is offered is a wall and cleats to tie off on and not much else. Depth is no problem but wakes can be an issue so proper fender size and placement is important. The river has a two foot tidal range so adjust your lines accordingly. Docking is on a first come, first served basis. Call Convention Center Security to let them know that you are there at 251-208-3165.

Downtown historic Mobile is a quarter mile walk and offers many attractions and many restaurants. It is worth the walk. For those who want to stay and take advantage of what the town has to offer there is a pay option that will allow you to stay for 48 hours. Again, everything is first come, first serve. Apply online at https://www.asmglobalmobile.com/mobile-convention-center/boat-dock-registration. Fee is $50 per day with a maximum of a two day stay. This gives you immediate access to some pretty interesting day and evening activities within easy walking distance. There is a park right next to the convention center for walking Fido. Greer's Downtown Market is a mile up Government St. There are no services on the dock but there are positive reports about Convention Center Security staff doing a good job watching the boats.
