Lock tender was fantastic. She helped us get the lines and told us what to expect with the lock. She also gave us information about the other locks/bridges ahead. Super friendly and helpful!
The lock raised the water level 1.5 feet on our passing so it was not difficult. Clear instructions via VHF 13 were given as we approached.

Anchorage Review for Franklin Lock West

We tried anchoring but saw it drag as we backed down on it (twice). I'm sure it would have been fine since the winds were light but the lock tender said we could use the dolphins (piles) if we wanted. So we got out some lines and tied bow/stern to the dolphins which worked great. They are about 70 feet apart. Nice park location. No swimming (we saw a big alligator swim by!)

They are still rebuilding after Ian, but the docks were first class. Their chef was superb at "The Ritz" a temporary dinning location. The staff was very helpful and responsive.
