Spent a few nights here waiting for the weather to clear. It's a bit tight coming in but the transient slip was at the t-head and easy to get to. The people we dealt with were all very friendly and the price was great.
In early January there wasn't much activity other than a few work boats coming in and out and people using the fuel dock. It's fairly well protected from the shipping channel too.
Not much here within walking distance other than a small convenience store.

  • Marina Review for Moody Gardens Marina

We stayed here a few nights in early January, so factor that into our review. We were the only boat there except a large yacht which I think is always there.
When we first arrived we called the front desk and they sent a security guard in a truck to pick us up. They usually use a golf cart but it was cold and windy. Security guard wasn't thrilled but brought us to the front desk. The rest of the time we just did the 1/4 mile walk to/from the marina.
Power/water at the slip was good. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk. The men's bathroom was dirty and the water pressure was low so I didn't bother using the shower.
Moody Gardens themselves were neat, and you get a discount for staying there.
The marina itself was just okay though, and kind of pricey considering the time of year we were there.

  • Bridge comment on Pelican Island Causeway Bridge

This bridge may not be open for marine traffic. Back in May, 2024 a barge hit the bridge. It was open to vehicle traffic, but according to a local it won't open for boat traffic (possibly for a long time). I tried going through there during scheduled hours and nobody responded to radio calls.

    • WG Editor Comment:

There is nothing in the Notice to Mariners indicating this. WG call will attempt to call the bridge.
