Rice Lake, ON, CAN
Rice Lake, 57 miles and 18 locks from Trenton, is the Trent system’s second largest body of water. It is almost 20 miles long and 3 miles wide.
It is dotted with islands, secluded coves and resort marinas and offers good cruising and pleasant day sailing. Many consider it to be one of the top sport fishing lakes in Ontario.
The lake was a giant granary in First Nation times and was named for the wild rice that grows around its shores. It still attracts great flocks of southbound ducks and geese on their way to winter-feeding grounds.
