Grimsby, ON, CAN

A group of United Empire Loyalists, who were resettled at the mouth of 40-Mile Creek in 1787, founded the town of Grimsby in 1790.

The town has gone through numerous changes from a small rural village to a manufacturing center of metal products. Grimsby also had a successful commercial fishing industry until the 1960s. Learn more at the Grimsby Museum at 6 Murray St. (905-945-5292).

Today, Grimsby is best known as the gateway to the Niagara Peninsula’s many excellent wineries and distilleries.
