Grand Marais, MN
Typical of Lake Superior towns, Grand Marais was first a fur trading post, then a commercial fishing port and lumber town and now a tourist center. An attractive harbor-edge promenade leads to the downtown area.
Strategically situated between the big lake and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the town is an important outfitting center for both. Art galleries, a hardware store, a bookstore, an art gallery and a history museum are all within easy walking distance of the marina. Grand Marais is a very pleasant town with many opportunities to restock and refresh.
